CompanyCam

Connect your CompanyCam account so the photos your crew shoots on site appear on the job inside Joby — and can be dropped straight into an estimate without anyone emailing pictures around.

    What it is

    Video walkthrough — coming soon

A short screen recording — connecting the account, linking a job, and pulling photos into an estimate — is being made and will appear here. Until it lands, the step-by-step below covers every button on these screens.

CompanyCam is a separate phone app your crew uses to take photos on site. This integration joins the two: your techs keep shooting in CompanyCam exactly as they already do, and the photos show up inside Joby on the matching job.

You connect it once, from SettingsConnections & AIIntegrationsCompanyCam. After that there are two places the photos turn up.

    On the job

Open a job and go to its Documents tab. A Jobsite Photos section shows the pictures from that job's CompanyCam project, newest first. Click any thumbnail to see it full size.

    On an estimate

While building an estimate, the Photos card has a From CompanyCam button. Tick the shots you want and they become estimate photos the customer sees on their portal.

The link between a Joby job and CompanyCam is a project. One Joby job points at one CompanyCam project. Joby can create that project for you the moment a job is booked, so nobody has to remember to do anything — or you can leave it manual and click Link CompanyCam project on the jobs that need it.

Nothing is copied out of CompanyCam behind your back. The photos on the Documents tab are fetched live each time you open it, so what you see is whatever is in CompanyCam right now. The one exception is photos you deliberately add to an estimate — those are copied into Joby and kept, so an estimate you sent last month still shows its pictures.

    When to use it

    • Your field crew already uses the CompanyCam app and the office keeps asking them to text photos over.
    • An office agent needs to see what the tech is looking at before quoting a price, without logging into a second system.
    • You want "before" pictures attached to the estimate the customer opens, so the price makes sense to them.
    • A customer disputes what was done and you need the dated jobsite photos next to the job record.
    • You are quoting a similar job and want to reuse a good photo from a previous one — All photos in the estimate picker searches your whole CompanyCam account, not just this job.

If nobody on your team uses CompanyCam, skip this. Photos can be uploaded straight onto a job from the same Documents tab, and onto an estimate from the Photos card, without any integration at all.

    Before you start

    A CompanyCam Pro plan

Access tokens are a paid CompanyCam feature. The connect screen says so directly: Requires a Pro plan. On a free CompanyCam plan the token will be rejected.

    An access token from CompanyCam

In CompanyCam: profile menuAccess TokensNew Token. Copy the whole thing. Joby shows the same reminder under the paste box.

    The right access in Joby

Your role needs Integrations switched on under SettingsTeam Roles to reach the page, and only an owner or admin can connect, disconnect, or change the auto-create setting.

    Street addresses on your jobs

When Joby links a job it first looks for a CompanyCam project at the same street address before making a new one. A job with no address always gets a brand-new project.

    • Your crew needs the CompanyCam app. Joby never uploads photos into CompanyCam — it only reads what your techs have already shot there.
    • Agents need the Documents tab. The Jobsite Photos section lives inside a job's Documents tab, which is switched on per role under SettingsTeam Roles. A role without that tab never sees the photos.
    • Your company may use different words. "Lead", "Job", "Office Agent" and "Field Worker" can all be renamed for your account, so the drop-down that reads When a lead is scheduled here may read When a job is scheduled on your screen.
    • Can't find the tile? CompanyCam is switched on for every Joby account by default. If it is missing from SettingsIntegrations, ask Joby support to turn it back on for your company.

    Step-by-step

    1. Connect your CompanyCam account

    1. In CompanyCam, open your profile menuAccess TokensNew Token and copy the token it gives you.
    2. In Joby, go to SettingsConnections & AIIntegrations.
    3. Find the CompanyCam tile — type "CompanyCam" into the Search integrations box, or click the Field operations category. The tile reads Connect while it is unconnected.
    4. Click the tile. The CompanyCam page opens with a Connect CompanyCam card and one box: Paste your CompanyCam access token.
    5. Paste the token and click Connect. You get a CompanyCam connected successfully message and the page swaps to the connected view with a green Connected badge.

If the token is wrong you get Could not connect CompanyCam with the reason underneath — usually that the token was rejected, which means it was cut short when copied or the CompanyCam account is not on a Pro plan.

    2. Decide when the CompanyCam project gets created

Once connected, an Auto-create projects card appears with a single drop-down. It answers one question: when should Joby create the CompanyCam project for a job? Once the project exists, CompanyCam matches your techs' on-site photos to it on its own — nobody has to link anything by hand.

Manual — click Link on each lead

Nothing happens automatically. Someone opens the job's Documents tab and clicks Link CompanyCam project. Good if only a few jobs ever need photos.

    When a lead is scheduled

The project is made as soon as the job reaches your Scheduled status — so it is waiting before the tech arrives. This is the safe default for most companies.

When a lead goes In Progress

Waits until work actually starts. Keeps CompanyCam tidier, but the project only exists once someone moves the job along.

    On every new lead

A project for every single enquiry, including the ones you never win. Only pick this if you genuinely photograph everything.

    1. Go to SettingsIntegrationsCompanyCam.
    2. Open the drop-down under Auto-create projects and pick one of the four options above.
    3. It saves as soon as you pick — you get an Auto-create setting saved message. There is no separate save button.

If it fails you see Could not save setting and the drop-down snaps back to what it was before, so you always know the real setting.

    3. Link a single job by hand

    1. Open the job from WorkLeads.
    2. Click the Documents tab and scroll to Jobsite Photos.
    3. Click Link CompanyCam project. Joby looks for a CompanyCam project at the same street address as the job and uses it; if there isn't one, it creates a project named after the customer.
    4. You get a CompanyCam project linked message, and the buttons change to Open in CompanyCam, Change project and Refresh.

Until a photo exists the grid shows No photos yet. Photos taken in CompanyCam for this project will show up here. That is normal — it fills in once a tech shoots something.

    4. Point a job at a different CompanyCam project

Use this when a job got attached to the wrong project, or when a near-miss on the address ("Pine St" against "Pine Street") caused a duplicate project to be created.

    1. On the job's Documents tab, click Change project in the Jobsite Photos header. (On a job that has never been linked the same button reads Choose project.)
    2. A Change CompanyCam project window opens listing your projects, most recently active first. Type in Search by project name or address to narrow it, and use Load more at the bottom for older ones.
    3. Click the project you want. A tick marks the one currently in use. You get Linked to "…" and the photos reload.
    4. To break the link entirely, click Unlink project at the bottom left of that window. The job goes back to offering Link CompanyCam project.

    5. Put jobsite photos on an estimate

    1. Open the estimate from WorkEstimates, or start a new one, and find the Photos card.
    2. Click From CompanyCam. An Add photos from CompanyCam window opens.
    3. Use the This lead tab for the photos on this job's own CompanyCam project. If the estimate isn't attached to a job, this tab isn't offered.
    4. Use the All photos tab to pull from anywhere in your CompanyCam account. It starts on Last 90 days; change it to Last 30 days, Last year or All time, and narrow it further with Filter by project.
    5. Click photos to tick them — selected ones get a blue tick in the corner and the count shows as "3 selected". Load more pulls the next batch.
    6. Click Add 3 photos (the button counts your picks). On a saved estimate you get Added 3 photos from CompanyCam and they appear in the Photos card immediately. On an estimate you haven't saved yet you get Added 3 photos — they'll import when you save, and they land properly the moment you save.

Photos added this way are copied into Joby, so they stay on the estimate and on the customer's portal even if the picture is later removed from CompanyCam.

    6. Disconnect

    1. Go to SettingsIntegrationsCompanyCam and click Disconnect on the account card.
    2. A Disconnect CompanyCam? window explains what happens: this unlinks your CompanyCam account and jobsite photos stop showing on the job Documents tab.
    3. Click Disconnect to confirm, or Cancel to back out. You get a CompanyCam disconnected message.

Nothing in CompanyCam is deleted, and photos you already imported onto estimates stay exactly where they are. Reconnecting later is just pasting a token again.

    How to check it worked

    • The connection: the CompanyCam page shows a green Connected badge next to the title, plus a CompanyCam account card reading Connected via API key. Back on SettingsIntegrations the tile now says Connected and its button reads Manage instead of Connect.
    • Auto-create: take one job through the trigger you chose (book it, or move it to In Progress), then open its Documents tab. If it worked, the Jobsite Photos header now offers Open in CompanyCam — click it and the project opens in CompanyCam in a new tab.
    • Photos flowing through: have a tech shoot one photo on that project, then click Refresh. The line under the heading counts them — 1 photo synced from CompanyCam — and the thumbnail appears with its capture date printed across the bottom.
    • A single photo: click a thumbnail. It opens larger with the date in the window title, plus the caption and By … the person who took it, when CompanyCam has them.
    • Estimate photos: the count in the Photos card header goes up, and the pictures show on the customer's estimate portal alongside any you uploaded yourself.

A good first test: pick one real job, link it by hand, ask the tech on site to take a single photo, and hit Refresh. If that photo appears, everything behind it is working — you can then switch auto-create on for the whole team with confidence.

    Common mistakes

    Half a token

The most common connect failure is a token that was copied short. Copy it straight out of CompanyCam's Access Tokens screen rather than out of an email or a chat message.

    "There's no Jobsite Photos section"

That whole section is hidden until CompanyCam is connected, so the Documents tab stays clean for companies that don't use it. Check the connection first, not the job.

A duplicate project at the same house

Joby only reuses an existing project when the street address matches exactly. "Pine St" against "Pine Street" makes a second project. Fix it with Change project and tidy CompanyCam afterwards.

    Waiting for photos to "sync"

Nothing runs in the background. The list is read fresh each time the tab opens, so a photo taken thirty seconds ago needs a Refresh click, not a wait.

    A photo that never appears

Joby deliberately leaves out photos your crew marked internal in CompanyCam, and ones CompanyCam is still processing. Give it a minute, then check whether the shot is marked internal.

    "All photos looks empty"

That tab starts at Last 90 days. When nothing matches it tells you so and offers a Search all time button — click that before assuming the photos are gone.

    • Expecting Joby to push photos into CompanyCam. It only reads. Photos uploaded onto a Joby job from the Documents tab stay in Joby and never appear in the CompanyCam app.
    • An agent connecting it. Only an owner or admin can connect, disconnect, or change the auto-create drop-down. Anyone else gets told the setting can't be changed — they can still see and use the photos.
    • Setting auto-create to "On every new lead" on day one. Every enquiry, including the dead ones, becomes a CompanyCam project. Start with When a lead is scheduled and only widen it if you really do photograph everything.
    • Trying to add hundreds of photos to one estimate. Each Add photos click handles up to 30. Do it in a couple of passes for a big job.
    • Looking for this job's photos on a brand-new estimate. If the This lead tab says the job has no CompanyCam project yet, link one from the job's Documents tab first — or just use All photos and pick from anywhere.
    • Assuming disconnecting wipes the estimates. It doesn't. Photos you added to estimates were copied into Joby and stay on them; only the live Jobsite Photos section goes away.

    Who can do what

    • Owner or admin — connect and disconnect the account, and set the auto-create drop-down.
    • Any role with Integrations — open SettingsIntegrationsCompanyCam and see whether it is connected. Turn this on under SettingsTeam Roles.
    • Any role that can open a job's Documents tab — view the Jobsite Photos, link a project, change it, unlink it, and open the project in CompanyCam. Nothing extra is needed beyond that tab.
    • Anyone who can edit an estimate — use From CompanyCam to add photos to it.
