In-App Notification Settings

Decide which little confirmation pop-ups appear in the corner of the screen when your team saves, sends or changes something — and switch on desktop alerts so you still get told when Joby is not the window you are looking at.

    What it is

Every time somebody in your company saves a job, sends a text, books an appointment or adds a price book item, Joby shows a small message in the corner of the screen — "Lead created successfully", "SMS sent successfully", "Settings saved". These are the confirmation pop-ups, and inside Joby they are called toast notifications.

The Toast Notification Settings page is one long list of switches — 147 of them, grouped into 16 cards — where you decide which of those messages your company sees. Turn one off and it stops appearing for everybody. The page says so at the top: "Configure which success notifications are shown across the application. These settings apply to all users."

    Video walkthrough — coming soon

A short screen recording of this page (finding a noisy message, switching it off, and turning on desktop alerts in your browser) is being filmed and will appear here. Until then, the steps below cover the same ground.

There is a second, completely separate switch covered by this guide: the Browser Notifications card, which asks your web browser for permission to show you alerts on your desktop even when Joby is behind another window. The two are easy to confuse, so here is the difference.

    Toast notifications

The confirmation messages inside Joby. Set once by an admin, applied to everybody in the company. Lives at SettingsAdminToast Notifications.

    Browser notifications

Desktop alerts from Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Each person switches this on for themselves, on each computer they use. Lives at SettingsMy AccountAccount Settings.

Neither of these is the bell icon at the top of the screen, and neither is the alert that buzzes your phone. Those are covered in the Notifications guide.

    When to use it

    • Your office agents say the pop-ups are "in the way" — usually one particular message that fires on every single click, like Copied to clipboard or Lead updated.
    • You run a busy dispatch screen where the same confirmation appears dozens of times an hour and nobody reads it any more.
    • You are training new staff and want to keep the confirmations on so they can see that each save actually worked.
    • Somebody swears a message "used to appear and doesn't any more" and you need to check whether it was switched off.
    • You work with Joby in a background tab and keep missing team chat messages — that is the browser notifications half of this page.

Do not come here to change what your team is told about new leads, calls or texts. That is the bell and the phone alerts, set up in Notifications.

    Before you start

    • You must be an admin. The Toast Notification Settings page is behind the admin gate. If your login is not an admin, opening it sends you straight back to the Dashboard, and the tile is not listed on the Settings page at all. Roles are set under Team Roles & Permissions.
    • Whatever you change applies to the whole company. There is no per-person version of this page. If you switch off "Lead created successfully", nobody in your company sees it again — not you, not your office agents, not your field workers.
    • Use a computer, not a phone. On a phone the Settings hub redirects to the More menu, and the More menu has no Toast Notifications item. The page itself does open on a phone if you follow a direct link, but there is no menu path to it.
    • Everything starts switched on. All 147 messages are on by default, so this page is only ever about turning things off — and turning them back on again if you change your mind.
    • Your company's wording shows up in the labels. If you have renamed "Lead", "Office Agent" or "Field Worker" for your account, the switch labels use your words. A label that reads "Lead assigned to office agent" here may read "Job assigned to CSR" on your screen.
    • For browser notifications, each person does it themselves. Permission is granted by the browser to that person on that computer. You cannot switch it on for somebody else, and it has to be repeated on a second laptop.

Error messages can never be switched off

Only success, information and warning confirmations are listed on this page. Error and validation messages — "Couldn't save…", "Can't delete this lead", a required field you left blank — always appear no matter what you do here. That is deliberate: nobody should be able to hide the message that tells your team something failed.

    Step-by-step

    Turn a confirmation message off

    1. Click Settings in the left menu (it is at the bottom, under your company name).
    2. Scroll down to the Admin group — the one described as "Billing, audit, and developer tools" — and click the Toast Notifications tile ("Which events pop in-app toast alerts."). You can also type toast into the Search settings… box at the top of the Settings page to jump straight to it.
    3. The page opens with the heading Toast Notification Settings and a stack of cards, one per area of Joby: Lead Management, Import/Export, Communication, Estimates, Appointments, Phone System, Workflows, Tasks, Clients/Contacts, Service Areas, Settings, Data Operations, Notifications, Blocked Numbers, Form Fields and Service Plans.
    4. Find the message you want gone. The switch label is the real wording of the pop-up, so if your team is complaining about "Copied to clipboard", look for exactly that in the Data Operations card. If you cannot see it, use your browser's own find (Ctrl+F on Windows, Cmd+F on a Mac) — the page has no search box of its own.
    5. Click the switch on the right of that row so it turns grey. There is no Save button — the change is written the moment you click, and every switch on the page is briefly greyed out while it saves.
    6. Repeat for anything else you want silenced. Then leave the page; there is nothing to confirm.

    Turn a message back on

    1. Go back to SettingsAdminToast Notifications.
    2. Find the same row and click the switch again so it turns coloured. It saves immediately, the same way.
    3. Ask the person who reported it to refresh their browser tab. Their copy of the settings is held for a while for speed, so a very recent change can take a moment to reach a session that has been open all day.

Turn on desktop alerts in your browser

    1. Click Settings in the left menu, then Account Settings under the My Account heading at the top of the page. (On a phone, tap More and then Notifications — same card.)
    2. Scroll to the Browser Notifications card. Under Desktop notifications you will see the current state: Not enabled yet, Enabled in this browser, Blocked — unblock in browser site settings, or Not supported in this browser.
    3. Click Enable. Your browser puts up its own small permission window — click Allow in that window, not in Joby.
    4. Joby confirms with "Browser notifications enabled" and immediately shows one sample alert titled Joby CRM so you can see what they look like.
    5. To test it properly later, click into another window first, then come back and click Send Test Notification. The card reminds you why: "notifications only appear when this tab isn't focused."

Once granted, these desktop alerts tell you when somebody @mentions you in team chat, replies to your message, or reacts to it — see Internal Chat. The card is hidden entirely inside the Joby CRM phone app, because phones use push alerts instead (see Mobile App).

    How to check it worked

    • The switch stays where you put it. Leave the page, come back, and the switch should still be grey. If it has flipped back to on, the save did not go through — check your internet connection and try again.
    • Do the thing that used to pop up. Switched off "Copied to clipboard"? Copy something. Nothing should appear in the corner. Switched off "Lead created successfully"? Create a test job — it still gets created, you just do not get told.
    • Ask a colleague. Because the setting covers the whole company, an office agent on another computer should stop seeing it too, once they refresh.
    • Errors still appear. A good sanity check that you have not switched off too much: try saving a form with a required field empty. You should still get told off.
    • Browser notifications: the Enable button is replaced by a green Enabled badge with a tick, and the line underneath reads Enabled in this browser. Send Test Notification becomes clickable.

    Common mistakes

"I only turned it off for me"

You did not. Every switch on this page is company-wide. If one office agent finds a message annoying, check with the rest of the team before silencing it for everybody.

Expecting this to stop customer messages

Nothing here touches what your customers receive. Switching off "SMS sent successfully" only hides your own confirmation — the text is still sent.

Hunting for a switch that is not there

Error and validation messages are not listed, and neither are the bell alerts or phone push alerts. If you cannot find it here, it is almost certainly one of those.

Browser said no, and Joby cannot overrule it

Once the status reads Blocked — unblock in browser site settings, the Enable button stops working. You have to unblock Joby in the browser's own site settings (the padlock next to the address) first.

    • Switching off too much at once. Confirmations are how your team knows a save landed. Silence one message, live with it for a week, then decide about the next one.
    • Assuming the change is instant for everyone. People with Joby already open may keep seeing the old behaviour until they refresh the page.
    • Clicking Send Test Notification with Joby in front of you. Nothing will appear — that is the browser working as designed, not a fault. Click another window first.
    • Testing browser alerts on an iPhone or Android inside the app. The Browser Notifications card does not exist there. Phone alerts are set up separately.
    • Using this to quieten a noisy workflow. If an automation is firing too often, fix the automation. Hiding its confirmation just makes the over-firing harder to spot.

    More detail (3)

    What each group covers

The cards appear in this order on the page. Every message in every card is switched on until you decide otherwise.

    • Lead Management — creating, updating, deleting and assigning jobs, status changes, service area matches, callback tickets, notes and bulk processing.
    • Import/Export — spreadsheet imports finishing, pausing, resuming or being cancelled, and exports of jobs, clients and blocked numbers.
    • Communication — texts and emails sent, message templates saved, deleted, duplicated or reset, template categories, scheduled messages and AI prompt changes.
    • Estimates — estimates created, updated, sent, signed and deleted, payments received, signatures collected, estimate statuses and domain settings.
    • Appointments — appointments scheduled, updated, cancelled, status changes, and copying the public booking link.
    • Phone System — calls connected and transferred, recordings saved, transcripts ready, voicemail received, default and display number changes, audio uploads.
    • Workflows — workflows and call flows saved, deleted or duplicated, and jobs cancelled mid-run.
    • Tasks — tasks created, updated, completed, reopened and deleted.
    • Clients/Contacts — clients and contact groups created, updated, deleted and synced, members added and removed, and field workers created, invited, updated or deactivated.
    • Service Areas — areas created, updated and deleted, and the drawing tools (polygon, rectangle, circle, clear).
    • Settings — the biggest group. General "Settings saved" and "Company settings saved" messages, schedules and overrides, service types, price book items, payment methods and external companies.
    • Data Operations — "Copied to clipboard", file uploads and PDF uploads. This is the group most teams trim first.
    • Notifications — marking all notifications read, dismissing one, internal chat alerts, and the push test message.
    • Blocked Numbers — numbers blocked and unblocked, spam sweeps, and the "no blocked calls found" / "no spam detected" results.
    • Form Fields — your own custom fields created, updated and deleted, conditions added and removed, and spam rules.
    • Service Plans — plans assigned and cancelled, invitations sent, visits recorded, and plan templates saved or archived.

The page ends with a grey About Toast Notifications card repeating the rule in one line: disabling a notification type prevents it from appearing for all users, and error and validation messages are always shown regardless of these settings.

    A sensible starting point

If your team says the pop-ups are too much but nobody can name the culprit, these are the usual offenders — they fire on routine clicks that repeat all day.

    Copied to clipboard

In Data Operations. Fires every time anyone copies a phone number or a link, which on a dispatch desk is constant.

    Lead updated

In Lead Management. Appears after every small edit. Leave Lead created successfully and Lead deleted switched on — those are worth confirming.

    Settings saved

In Settings. Harmless on its own, but admins setting up a new account can see it dozens of times in an afternoon.

    Keep the money ones on

Payment received, Estimate sent to customer, Signature collected and SMS sent successfully are worth the half-second. They confirm something left your building.

    If something looks wrong

The page just shows grey placeholder bars

That is the loading state. It should fill in within a second or two. If it does not, refresh the tab.

A switch snaps back to where it was

The change did not save. The page puts the switch back rather than pretending it worked. Check your connection and click it again.

You cannot find the page in the phone app

It is not in the More menu. Open it on a computer from SettingsAdminToast Notifications.

    "Not supported in this browser"

That browser cannot show desktop alerts at all, so the Enable button is greyed out. Use Chrome, Firefox, Edge or a recent Safari instead.
